LOW NUMBER OF ELIGIBLE APPLICANTS

   When the unemployment rate is at a record low, when the economy is looking great, and when there are jobs, jobs, and more jobs, typically there are fewer qualified applicants available. This can be good news for job seekers, but not for employers who are looking for one or two or a few good candidates.

Much time, money, and energy is spent in advertising, and searching for and recruiting the right candidate. After you have conducted your search and you think you have found the right employee, the hiring process begins. That is followed by many hours of training and the hope that this truly is the right candidate for the job. You hope that after investing so much on advertising, the search process, and training, that you will hit the jackpot, pay off on your investment, and get your prized employee.

Currently, the above scenario is not the case. In fact, what is happening in the job market today is exactly the opposite of the picture that has been painted about hitting the jackpot. Most of the calls I receive at Image Staffing are from employers telling me that the investment is not paying off. Much to the employer’s dismay, after spending much time and money, they have come to realize there is no guarantee that the new relationship will work.
